Sopranos sing for charity

Johanni van Oostrum and Eline Troskie started the Music Society's year on a high note!. It was an unbelievable privilege to listen to these two talented sisters. They were skillfully accompanied by Janny Lobbezoo from the Netherlands. Johani has for many years lived in the Netherlands but now works in Germany and Lienkie lives in Bloemfontein.

After the interval arias from well known operas were performed as solos and duets.- The Marriage of van Figaro (Mozart), La Boheme (Puccini), Russalka (Dvorak) and The Masked Ball (Verdi). The two sisters gave a hauntingly beautiful recital of Pie Jesus  (Andrew Lloyd Webber)  Likewise, the Flower duet from Lakmé (Delibes), sang as an encore, had the audience spontaneously on their feet!!

On Johani's request the concert was held for charity. The proceeds were donated to Jagersbosch Gemeenskapsorgsentrum and the Hartlief Class at Bertie Barnard Primary school. Many thanks to the two sisters for this generous gesture.
