SMV Nuusbrief 1/2013

Nuwejaarswense.

Our little village still consistently competes with the big towns and even cities to bring you artists of international repute. Thank you for your continued support to make this possible.

Voorlopige jaarprogram vir 2013.

The program for the year is summarised on the blog. Please note that there will be no concert in March as most of the committee will be absent during this month. However, we feel the rest of the year will make up for this.

2.On Thursday night 25 April 2013, Megan-Geoffrey Prince, will perform for us. He hails from Riversdale, was the first recipient of a bursary awarded by the Stilbaai Music Society and has since done us proud.

A very brief summary of his extensive CV states that in 2001 he was a finalist in the Sanlam Music Competition, received the award for the most promising participant younger than 10 years and was announced overall winner. Since then he has played with all the mayor symphony orchestras in South Africa.

More recently he won the organ category in the ABSA National Youth Music Competition in 2006, the National Arts Trust Music Competition in 2007 and the National Artscape Competition in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

In 2011 he was placed second at the highly prestigious UNISA National Piano Competition and in 2012 won all the South African awards at the UNISA International Piano Competition.  He was recently invited to attend master classes in Paris and partook in the Amalfi Coast Arts Festival in Italy. He has been invited to study at the highly prestigious Cleveland Institute of Music in 2013. He is currently gathering funds to realize this trip and by attending his performance we will help him in his goal!

4.Members Subscriptions. Please always remember that our Society is a society not for gain but purely for the benefit of the community. We ask members to pay their subs as soon as possible to enable us to finalise all performances for the year.
